A+M ENERGY FIRES - Traditional FIREPLACE
By "traditional" most people envisage the timber, stone or marble surround with a mantle shelf, a fire basket and fire dogs.
The fireplace opening within such surrounds varies in size and can be surrounded by marble or other material reveals.
The opening may frequently be too large for the capacity of the flue, or conversely there may be a large void or flue above the opening that chills the combustion gasses when a fire is first lit.
By fitting Glass Fireplace Doors these problems are normally overcome in an attractive solution that offers increased safety, reduction in heat loss and draughts.

A+M ENERGY FIRES - Modern FIREPLACE
This description covers fireplaces constructed in the last 50 years from brick, tile or stone and supplied pre-fabricated in kit or ready to install form. They are fitted against a "builders opening" which is frequently larger than the finished opening in the surround.
Removal of the surround often leaves an opening which, although larger, is too big for the capacity of the flue.
Conversely the opening in these surrounds is very small and it is often possible to enlarge the opening to give a more attractive appearance. The fitting of Glass Fireplace Doors will usually overcome these problems while making the fireplace more modern, attractive, clean and safe.

A+M ENERGY FIRES - See-through FIREPLACE
These are becoming increasingly popular where two rooms are knocked into one, while retaining an existing flue, or where an extension or conservatory is built and the existing fireplace can be made to serve two rooms.
Providing certain simple rules are observed, and doors are fitted on both sides, these fireplaces are an excellent feature. We should be pleased to advise customers on specific requirements upon request.

A+M ENERGY FIRES - Minimalist FIREPLACE
Glass Fireplace Doors are available from stock in most standard sizes in polished brass, satin black, brushed stainless steel etc.
The frame size in the Park Avenue Range is 2 inches (50mm) wide, although narrower frames are available on special order.
In line with the minimalist function, they can be fixed directly onto (overlapping) plain walls (without surrounds) or within the opening - providing there is sufficient depth to leave 3 to 4 inches between the glass and the basket front.

A+M ENERGY FIRES - Hole-in-the-wall FIREPLACE
Hole-in-the-wall fireplaces are normally an aperture above ground (or hearth) level. This may have the effect of reducing flue height and therefore capacity of the flue, and may also create a safety hazard with coals or logs falling out of the opening onto carpets or other flooring. Glass Fireplace Doors eliminate such happenings and create a pleasing picture-frame effect.
A+M ENERGY FIRES - Inglenook FIREPLACE
This term refers to large openings which are frequently "builders openings", in other words, they are spaces left where old kitchen fires or older style fireplaces have been removed, leaving a brick area behind. For this reason many of them smoke, as the opening is too large for the capacity of the flue. In such situations smoking will occur and may be cured by fitting glass fireplace doors over the whole opening, thereby increasing the capacity of the chimney by 50%.
We can also provide glass fireplace doors for Inglenooks, thereby reducing the dramatic heat loss created by old style chimneys.
Further information can be provided on request.

A+M ENERGY FIRES - Gas Fire
We can supply Glass Fireplace Doors for gas fires and the new range of Decor Doors has been produced specifically for this purpose with a low bottom frame to give access to the gas controls.
All gas fires are subject to Corgi recommendations, to whom all queries should be referred. Installation and modification to gas fires should be referred to and carried out by registered Corgi installers. However, we are prepared to advise and assist in specific cases, subject to the above.
In all cases adequate combustion air is essential for gas fires and our doors are supplied on the condition that the glass doors are kept open when gas fires are lit, in order that pre-determined gas/air mix is maintained.
In specific cases the required gas/air mix is obtained by the supply of combustion air to the fire chamber direct and we can advise how this may be achieved. In the case of see-through fireplaces, we understand that the Corgi requirement is that one set of glass fireplace doors shall be permanently closed.
